Victor 4  Fairport 2
Fairport opened the 2009 season on a sour note giving up three unearned runs with four errors.  AJ Mitrano got the Red Raiders started quickly drawing a walk to leadoff the game and then scored on a single up the middle by Dave Dupra.  Victor rallied to take the lead in the 4th but Fairport tied it in the 5th.  Lou Zambelli slammed a double over the left fielder's head to lead off the inning.  Kieran Murphy singled up the middle and eventually scored on a wild pitch.  Tim Monahan pitched three scoreless innings to start the game.

Spencerport 7 Fairport 4
Fairport couldn't overcome two errors that led to 4 unearned runs.  AJ Mitrano once again got Fairport on the board in the first to tie the game.  The Red Raiders fell behind 4-1 in the 4th and tried to rally in the bottom of the innning.  Tyler Maxwell doubled to right with one out.  Mitrano beat out an infield.  Kieran Murphy and David Dupra each singled to drive in runs and cut the deficit to a run but the Red Raiders couldn't get any closer.
Fairport (0-2, 0-1)

 

Fairport 5 Gates-Chili 4
Fairport rallied and then had to hold off Gates-Chili for their first win of the year at FHS.  Gates jumped to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd.  The Red Raiders tied the score in the bottom of the 4th.  Dave Dupra lined a single to right with one out.  Kieran Murphy followed with a double to the gap in right center.  Dupra scored on an error then Tyler Gerling lined his first varsity base hit to drive in Murphy and tie the game.  Fairport took the lead in the 5th with three unearned runs.  AJ Mitrano reached on a fielder's choice and Matt Breen followed with his first hit of the year.  Murphy hit a fly ball to right that was misplayed allowing two runs to score.  Geoff Soja followed with another fly ball to right that was dropped allowing Murphy to score.  Gates-Chili scored two runs in the seventh and left the tying run on third when Soja struck out the final batter.

Greece-Athena 8  Fairport 6
Fairport spotted Greece-Athena too big a lead and scored too little, too late.  Athena jumped to a 5-0 lead before the Red Raiders got on the board.  Kieran Murphy and Geoff Soja lined back-back singles to right in the 4th.  With two outs, Tyler Maxwell hit a fly ball to left that the left fielder misplayed allowing two runs to score.  Murphy lined his second hit of the game to right in the 6th.  Lou Zambelli slammed a double to the gap in left center to drive in Murphy.  Fairport rallied in the 7th.  Dan Yirinec led off with a walk and Tim Ackerman dropped a base hit over the second baseman.  With two outs Tyler Gerling reached on an error allowing Yirinec to score and keep the inning alive.  Dave Dupra singled for the third time in the game and Murphy walked to load the bases.  Soja lined a single to center to drive in two runs and cut the deficit to 8-6 but that was all for the Red Raiders.

Brockport 10  Fairport 1
Few highlights in the opening game in Myrtle Beach at the Ripken Experience.  The Red Raiders scored an unearned run in the bottom of the third to tie the game but Brockport scored 5 runs in the top of the fourth to break the game open.

Pittsford Sutherland 6  Fairport 1

The Fairport bats remain silent in the 2009 season as the Red Raiders managed just 4 hits again.  Kieran Murphy walked to lead off the 2nd inning then stole second.  Tyler Gerling followed with a clutch single to center to put Fairport up 1-0 but that was all the scoring the Red Raiders could put together.  AJ Mitrano added two hits.

Brockport 5  Fairport 2
Fairport jumped on the board first in this game.  Geoff Soja led off the 2nd inning with a base hit.  Tyler Gerling sacrificed him into scoring position.  Lou Zambelli lined a two-out run scoring single to center to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.  Brockport scored in each of the next four innings before Fairport added one run in the top of the 7th.  AJ Mitrano led off with a single to center.  Dave Dupra singled and both runners advanced into scoring position on an error.  Kieran Murphy drove in Mitrano with a single.  Chris Valente added two base hits in his first varsity start.  Keith Dapprich ended the Brockport 6th with a spectacular diving catch against the fence in left field.  
Fairport 1-6 (1-1, Monroe County Div. 1)



Fairport 11  Holley 7
The Red Raiders ended a four game losing streak with a come-from-behind win against Holley.  Fairport jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second.  Geoff Soja singled to lead off the inning.  Tim Ackerman singled to left.  Max Cady reached on an error allowing Soja to score.  Ackerman scored on another error and AJ Mitrano singled to drive in Cady.  Holley tied the game in the bottom of the third and took a 7-3 lead in the 4th.  The Red Raiders rallied and took the lead in the 5th.  Matt Breen led off with a walk and scored on a base hit by Kieran Murphy.  Geoff Soja walked with the bases loaded to force in a run.  Kyle Wood and Tyler Gray both pinch hit and hit sacrifice flys to tie the game.  Chris Valente and Keith Dapprich walked and scored on bases loaded walks by Breen and Dupra to give Fairport a 9-7 lead.  The Red Raiders added two insurance runs in the 7th.  Mitrano led off with a single and scored on a double down the line by Breen.  Soja completed the scoring with an rbi single to right.

Pittsford Sutherland 9  Fairport 7
The Fairport defense gave up more than the offense could score against the Sutherland Knights.  Fairport scored first.  Dan Yirinec doubled down the right field line to lead off the 3rd inning and scored on a single to center by Keith Dapprich.  Sutherland put up 5 runs in the the bottom of the inning and two more in the fourth with the help of two Fairport errors to take a 7-2 lead.  The Red Raiders rallied to tie the game in the top of the 5th.  Dapprich walked and AJ Mitrano singled before Matt Breen ripped a triple down the left field line to drive in two runs.  Dave Dupra, Geoff Soja and Kieran Murphy all walked to force in another run.  Tyler Gerling hit a sac fly to score Dupra and Soja scored on an error to tie the game.  Sutherland scored the go ahead run in the sixth and added an unearned run in the seventh to put the game away.

Rush-Henrietta 6  Fairport 5
Fairport gave away 4 unearned runs and had only three hits but kept the game close.  R-H took a 2-0 lead in the first before the Red Raiders got an RBI single by Tyler Maxwell to drive in Geoff Soja.  R-H scored in the bottom of the inning but then gave Fairport three runs in the fourth with three errors and three walks.  The Red Raiders stretched the lead in the 5th when Kieran Murphy doubled to right center and scored on a sacrifice fly by Keith Dapprich.  Fairport committed three errors that led to three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to give the lead back to R-H.

Penfield 11 Fairport 6
Fairport gave up 5 runs in the first and fell behind 6-0 before fighting back to tie the game.  Matt Breen, Dave Dupra, and Geoff Soja all singled leading off the bottom of the third to load the bases.  Kieran Murphy hit a fly ball to right that was misplayed in the wind allowing Breen to score.  Tyler Gerling singled to center to drive in one run and Tim Ackerman was hit by a pitch to force home another run.  Breen singled in the fourth with one out and Dupra executed a perfect hit and run that put both runners in scoring position and allowed Breen to score on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 6-5.  Gerling reached on an error to lead of the fifth.  Max Cady came in to pinch run and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice by Ackerman.  Lou Zambelli singled through the hole at short to tie the game.  Penfield exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 7th to put the game away. 
Fairport 2-9 (1-3, MC Div.1)
 
 
Fairport 20 Amherst (Sec. VI) 2
The Fairport bats took advantage of a young Amherst team and pounded out 19 hits.  Tim Ackerman lined a double and triple down the right field line and contributed 4 RBI.  Andy Bishop picked up his first two varsity hits and added two RBI and Max Cady also got his first two varsity hits.  Eric Damiano had his first three hits in a varsity uniform and Tyler Gray had his first varsity hit.  Tyler Gerling went 2-2 with 2 RBI.  Ben Falkowitz pitched 5 scoreless innings to record his first win of the year.  He gave up one hit, struck out four and walked one. 
Fairport 3-9 (1-3, MC Div. 1)

Webster Schroeder 9  Fairport 2
Fairport collected 11 hits but scored only two runs and couldn't overcome 6 errors.  Dave Dupra continued his steady hitting for the Red Raiders going 3 for 3 and he scored the first run for Fairport in the 6th inning.  Max Cady added a run scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. 
Fairport 3-10 (1-4, MC Div. 1)

Hilton 11  Fairport 2
Fairport scored first in the top of the first.  AJ Mitrano lined a single to center.  Matt Breen moved him into scoring position with a two strike sacrifice and Dave Dupra drove Mitrano home with a double to the gap in right center.  Hilton fought back to take the lead in the bottom of the inning and the Red Raiders never threatened.  Tyler Gerling drove in Kieran Murphy with a double off the fence in left for the only other run for Fairport. 
Fairport 3-11 (1-5, MC Div. 1)

Spencerport 14  Fairport 6
Fairport never threatened and lost its 4th straight game to Spencerport.  AJ Mitrano tripled with one out in the top of the 3rd to drive in Tyler Maxwell.  In the sixth, Tyler Gerling hammered a long triple to left that drove in Eric Damiano and then Gerling scored on an overthrow.  Kyle Wood tripled with two outs and scored on a base hit by Chris Valente. 
Fairport 3-12 (1-6, MC Div. 1)

Fairport 10  Greece Olympia 8
Fairport came from behind with a dramatic rally in the seventh inning to beat Greece Olympia.  The Red Raiders fell behind 2-0 in the first before AJ Mitrano led off the third with a single.  Matt Breen followed with a towering drive over the left field fence for Fairport’s first home run of the year to tie the game.  Olympia regained the lead in the bottom of the third.  Chris Valente ripped a double to left to lead off the fourth and scored on Mitrano’s third hit of the game to cut the deficit to 5-4.  Olympia stretched the lead to 8-4 before going into the top of the seventh.  Tyler Gerling led off and reached on an error.  Eric Damiano was hit by a pitch and Dan Yirinec reached on an infield single to load the bases.  Kieran Murphy stepped in and hammered an 0-1 pitch over the left centerfield fence for a Grand Slam that tied the game at 8.  Mitrano doubled with one out for his fourth hit of the game and Breen reached on an infield hit, his third hit of the game.  Both runners scored when the second baseman couldn’t catch a pop fly by Geoff Soja to give the Red Raiders a 10-8 lead.  Dan Yirinec and Tim Monahan combined for 2.3 innings of scoreless relief.  Yirinec picked up his first varsity win. 
Fairport 4-12 (1-6, MC Div. 1)

 

Gates-Chili 12  Fairport 6
Fairport's pitching couldn't hold back Gates.  The Red Raiders jumped on top in the first inning when AJ Mitrano led off with a double to left center and scored on another double to the gap from Dave Dupra.  Gates tied the scored in the bottom of the first but Fairport marched back on top in the 2nd.  Tim Ackerman was hit-by-pitch and moved into scoring position by a sacrifice from Lou Zambelli.  Chris Valente followed with a clutch single down the left field line to drive in a run.  Mitrano stepped in and lined another double down the left field lline to drive in Valente.  Matt Breen followed with a run-scoring single to left to put Fairport up 4-1.  The lead was short lived as Gates scored 6 runs in the bottom of the second and never trailed.  Kieran Murphy hit his second home run in as many games in the third. 
Fairport 4-13 (1-7, MC Div. 1)

Rush-Henrietta 6  Fairport 2
Fairport wasted its first complete game of the year by Tim Monahan with their defensive mistakes.  Monahan scattered six hits and gave up just 3 earned runs.  Geoff Soja had two run scoring hits but the Red Raiders left six runners in scoring position. 
Fairport 4-14 (1-8 MC Div. 1)

Penfield 12  Fairport 3
Penfield used 3 Fairport errors in the fourth inning to score 8 runs after the Red Raiders tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.  With the loss Fairport ties the school record for the most losses in one season.
